Coronavirus: Gov’t Discourages All Travels to Ghana.

The Government of Ghana has issued a travel advisory discouraging all travels to the country as part of its precautionary measures in wake of the coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in a news briefing on the virus outbreak at the Information Ministry on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

The travel advisory followed the announcement of four more confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Ghana.

The Information Minister noted that all persons except Ghanaians, who have within the last 14 days, visited countries with at least 200 cases of Covid-19 will not be permitted into the country.

He added that, allowed to enter the country will be required to mandatorily self-quarantine for 14 days. Persons who are unable to satisfactorily do so, will be quarantined by the state.

The government has already suspended consular services provided by embassies and high commissions in countries affected by the Coronavirus.

Also, The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has issued a directive to temporarily suspend all foreign travels for all public officials.

 

 

In a circular issued by the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and addressed to all sector Ministers and their deputies, Regional Ministers and their deputies, all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, and all Heads of Government Agencies, the president stressed that only essential and critical foreign travels will be considered and, thereafter, approved.

The Minister advised that travellers follow the said protocols.
