Construction of Obuasi East District Hospital Begins Soon- MP  

The Member of Parliament for Obuasi East Constituency, Dr. Patrick Boakye Yiadom has announced that the construction of the Obuasi East District Hospital as promised by President Akufo-Addo will begin soon.

He said preparation is far ahead to commence the project.

It could be recalled that President Akufo-Addo in a covid-19 update on April 27, 2020, announced that his government will build hospitals in each of the 88 districts of Ghana. 

Obuasi East a new district or Constituency being carved out of the Obuasi municipal. Its residents rely largely on the Obuasi government hospital every day for healthcare.

However, the legislator in an interview with SN24 News admitted that the construction of the District's Hospital will start by the close of March 2021.

"I want to say that works on the site for the construction are done, all relevant documents have been submitted and soon construction will start," he confirmed.

 He further applauded health workers in the Constituency for their great work in the fight against Covid-19.

"I want to especially thank the health workers for the immense work they've done since the emergence of the deadly virus, today if Obuasi is no longer an epicenter of covid-19, then all thanks goes to the health workers for their sacrifice".

In total, Obuasi East and west recorded 1,054 cases of covid-19 with 21 of these victims succumbing to the virus in 2020.

Our investigation so far indicates that, In the first two months of 2021, Obuasi East has recorded 85 cases of coronavirus with one kicking the bucket.

The covid-19 task force in Obuasi has started forcing residents to adhere strictly to the protocols as a means of keeping Obuasi covid free.
