The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, who was the former Member of Parliament for Kwahu South Constituency has paid a day visit to Kwahu South Municipal.

The purpose of his visit was in line with his commitment to ensuring that abandoned roads are rewarded to contracts and ongoing road construction projects in the Eastern Region met the acceptable standards.

He toured abandoned road projects in Bepong and Donkorkrom roads, the two abandoned metal bridges that have been left unattended for the past 7 years, and the ongoing projects in the Municipality.

He also inspected the Communication Antenna ongoing project to connect the people in and around Nkwaafour who struggles to enjoy phone calls in the entire community of over two thousand populations.

The project which is funded by the Ghana Road Fund commenced in December 2014 and was expected to be completed within twenty-four (24) months but was abandoned, and the ongoing road constructions started in late 2020.

The project which is a 14km bituminous surfacing was abandoned by the previous government and was under the supervision of the Ghana Highway Authority.

The current road construction is to cover the following areas: Bepong Township, – Donkorkrom Afram Plains road, and Bepong Nkwaafour roads.

Speaking to Media, Mr. Kwame Acheampong said the roads when completed will ease the burden of Bepong residents and those who ply their trade on the Bepong Donkorkrom Township and will reduce the overburdened armed robbery attacks on the stretch.

He emphasized that the road network will also improve accessibility to places which currently are inaccessible.

He added that the roads will also boost economic activities for the benefit of both the assembly and the residents of Kwahu South.
