Construction of Asin North roads to begin soon- MCE

The construction of the Asin North roads and the main stretch that links Yamoransa, Assin Fosu, Praso, and Asante Bekwai is set to begin soon.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Assin North Municipality, Mr. Nicholas Fiifi Baakoh made the revelation in a meeting with DHLC construction LTD yesterday.

The MCE’s comments emanate after drivers, passengers, and residents of Assin Fosu last week had protested over the terrible nature of roads in the Municipality.

They said the roads in the Municipality had not received any major rehabilitation works and are ridden with multiples of wide portholes competing with erosion in the middle of the main highway that connects Kumasi and Cape Coast, irrespective of their economic and social impact on the nation’s building.

The agitated drivers said apart from the frequent breakdown of their vehicles and the high cost of maintenance, the situation creates intense vehicular and human traffic making commuting in the municipality challenging and had slowed down economic activities.

However, the MCE in an interview with the media stated yesterday that the contractor will start very soon.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Coordinator of the Assembly, Mr. Charles Lartey has also confirmed that the road is already under contract for rehabilitation, thus, Assin Praso – Assin Fosu, Yamoransa Junction- Asante Bekwai Road Project and he is of the fair conviction that the contractor will begin work very soon.

He has therefore, called on drivers and passengers to exercise restraint.
