Commonwealth Games 2022: Jubilation As Nigeria Wins Another Big Medal

Nigeria has won another medal at the ongoing 2022 Common Wealth games as Taiwo Laidi won silver in weightlifting in the women's 76 impressive kg event.

Team Nigeria have continued their medal rush at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with Taiwo Liadi claiming another in the weightlifting event.

Liadi lifted a combined total weight of 216kg to clinch Silver in the women’s 76kg category.

She also set a junior Commonwealth Games record in the process.

All of Nigeria’s five medals at the games so far have come from the weightlifting event.

Folashade Rofiat Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye won gold medals for Team Nigeria, while Edidiong Umoafia and Islamiyat Adebukola Yusuf claimed bronze medals in different categories.

Speaking to Sports Brief, Kola Daniel who is the SA Media to Nigeria's Minister of Sports expressed happiness on the latest development about Taiwo Laidi as he enjoined all other athletes to do their best. 

Kola stated: "Taiwo has done well and we are all happy about the silver medal she has just won and we are still hoping that Nigeria will get more medals before the end of this games. 

''The Honourable Minister is on the ground and he is moving around to boost the morale of all athletes at the Common Wealth games.''
