Cocoa farmers inaugurates 8-unit classroom facility for two communities in Ahafo Region

The Asunafo North Municipal Cooperative Cocoa Farmers Union has said it's committed to ensuring that all children especially the vulnerable ones among those in their operational areas across the country receive improved quality Basic Education

The Cocoa Farmers made the remarks when they led a delegation to inaugurate a 4-unit classroom facility  each  for Ampenkro Koforidua and Adiepena rural communities in the Asunafo North of the Ahafo
Region.

Prior to the construction of the 4-unit classroom block each for Ampenkro Koforidua and Adiepena near Asumura, the only school in the community was one built with mud and wooden structures several years ago.

Due to the condition of the school, very few teachers accept postings there.

The vision of the Cocoa farmers according to them is to bring education to the doorstep of the people and end child labor in cocoa production.
Speaking to the media after the handover, President of the group   Daniel Amponsah said, “Child labor in cocoa production has become rampant in the area due to lack of proper school facilities”.
According to him, the group is committed to ensuring school pupils learn from a serene environment hence their support.
He called on the school authorities for both schools to ensure a maintenance culture to sustain the facilities for future generations.
