Manchester City have begun talks with AFC Bournemouth center back, Nathan Ake.

The Citizens look to strengthen their defense ahead of next season following the fragility of their defense this season, failing to retain the Premier League title after nine losses.

The Cherries are facing relegation exit from the Premier League and a deal with City could be reached at a reasonable price for both parties, with the 25-year old Dutch player contracted until 2022.

Ake is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s speculated transfer targets including Tyron Mings to partner Harry Maguire at center back for the Red Devils.

Nathan Ake is nursing an injury and would be unable to play again this season after suffering an injury in Bournemouth's huge win over Leicester, according to boss Eddie Howe.

"I don't think Nathan will make this game. Whether he has a chance for Everton, I don't know, but I think this game will be too tight. "Adam Smith we'll make a late decision on. He's felt better so he's got a chance."

City have already agreed personal terms with Ferran Torres on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, to fill in the void left by Leroy Sane following his move to Bayern Munich.
