The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints Obuasi branch has planted trees to support the Government Agenda on Green Ghana project.

Religious and charitable organisations and heads of numerous ethnic groups have taken part in planting five million trees in Ghana as part of nationwide campaign to save depleting forest reserves.

Under the “Green Ghana” programme, the government provided free seedlings to people from all walks of life, including celebrities, officials, parliamentarians, traditional leaders and schoolchildren.

Meanwhile, the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints is in support of the government aim of greening Ghana to save a life.

The Obuasi branch of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints led by its district president, Adams Ajare together with church members have taken it upon themselves of planting within some parts of Obuasi.

As part of the exercise, the group saw the need to plant more trees in some hospitals in Obuasi.

Media engagement with the district president of the church, Adams Ajare said, "when the last tree dies the last man on the planet dies" hence they saw the need to support the president aim of greening Ghana to save lives.

The Obuasi Municipal health director, Madam Yaa Manu applauded the church for their Vital move.

She added that the church has aided the hospital at the right time in planting a huge number of trees at the hospital. She promised to take good care of the planted trees to help achieve the positive aim of the Church.

Director of Parks and Gardens, Kumasi Metro, Mr Nkansah Sekyere advised the general public to plant more trees and try as much as possible to protect existing trees to save lives.
