Church Accountant commits suicide over GHS12,000 at Nsawam

Mr Armstrong, the deceased died out of embezzlement of Tabernacle Believers Worship Centre fund 12,000cedis which he couldn’t account for in the end of year financial review.

The Tabernacle Believers Worship Centre (TBWC) at Gyara Zongo in Medie, a suburb of Nsawam, church accountant has committed Suicide over a missing C12,000 cedis said to belong to the church.

The accountant who has been with the church for eight years now was immediately rushed to Medie hospital around 5 pm yesterday, Sunday when he was found hanging on a tree in the backyard of his house.

Briefing the media this morning, Enoch Agana, a member of the Tabernacle Believers Worship Centre opined, that he found the 51-year old accountant hanging on the tree when he went to deliver the youth’s weekly finance to the deceased, the church accountant, so he could add to his Sunday stewardship.

"Enoch Agana after arriving at the Accountant’s house at almost yesterday, August 1, 2021, in the evening around 5 pm, kept shouting the name of the man ‘Mr Armstrong'' several times’ but there was no response. Enoch after waiting for six minutes and still not getting any responses, went to the backyard of the house to ease himself."
 
According to him, he was going to urinate when he came across the hanging body of the 51-year old Church Accountant.

Enoch together with others was able to take the unconscious body of the church accountant to Medie Hospital for emergency care.

Mr Armstrong was confirmed dead at the Medie hospital following admission at the emergency theatre of the hospital. Though there hasn’t been any postmortem, Enoch Agana and some church members have confirmed that the man’s death was because of a missing 12,000cedis which he couldn’t account for in his end of year financial review.

The church leaders were yet to decide on what to do with the situation when the news of Mr Armstrong’s death broke out last night. He left behind a wife and two children.
