The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in the North East Region is dragging the Mamprusi East Municipal Assembly to court for failing to disburse the Disability Common Fund.

This follows a petition by the Association of Persons With Disability (PWDs) asking CHRAJ to compel the assembly to pay the Disability Common Fund of which they are beneficiaries.

The Mamprusi East Municipal Director of CHRAJ, Salifu Sulley Sawyer, speaking to JoyNews monitored by SN24 News, said the commission was in the process of going to court on behalf of the PWDs to compel the authorities of the Assembly to pay the levies.

There have been reports of Persons with Disability Facing neglect by family members while others have resorted to street begging due to the assembly’s failure to disburse the disability common fund since 2018.
