Pastors have been urged to use their pulpits in preaching against the practice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) in the country.

The chief of Chiraa, Barima Afari Mintah urged Ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to join calls against the advocacy to legalize the practice of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) in the country.

According to him, traditional leaders do not support such immorality since they contradict the values and culture of the country.

Barima Afari Mintah made the comment at the 55th session of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery under auspices of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana held at the Peniel Retreat Center at Ayakomaso in the Sunyani West Municipality of Bono Region.

The session is an annual gathering of Ministers, Officers and Agents of the church in a given presbytery.

It is an important occasion that offers all stakeholders in the various Districts in the presbytery the platform to reflect and take stock of activities and progress of the various for the year under review.

In attendance were the immediate past chairperson of the presbytery, Rev. Dr Williams Kwabena Ofosu Addo, Rev. Dr Charles Gyan-Duah, former clerk of the General Assembly of PCG among other dignitaries.

The chief also advised pastors to stay away from partisan politics, but rather advised national leaders when they get off the track.

He observed that even though ministers of God have freedom of association, it is prudent they distinguish themselves and lead God’s sheep such that they are not divided.

This he believes will make vision 1.5 a reality (vision 1.5 is an agenda geared towards winning souls for Christ).

He however admonished pastors to be prayerful and not take the work of God for jokes.

Touching on the church to the palace initiative, the Chiraahene called on the leadership of the church to begin from his palace.

He also pledged his support for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
