This comes to light when the chiefs and people of Kwahu Dokuruwa have finally allocated large acres of lands to the authority of UESD to build it's satellite campus at Donkokrom, the modern university campus whose headquarters is located in Somanya.

The construction of a satellite campus of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) at Donkokrom in the Kwahu Afram Plains Traditional Area of the Eastern Region has come to finality.

This comes to light when the chiefs and people of Kwahu Bokuruwa have finally allocated the large acres of lands to the authority of UESD to build it's satellite campus at Donkokrom, the modern university campus whose headquarters is located in Somanya.
Following this development, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly, Mr. Isaac Ofori Koree and the Kwahu East District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Isaac Agyapong, have led a delegation from the University at Somanya to visit the Chiefs of Kwahu Bukuruwa to help facilitate the the legal and proper aquisition of one-mile- square lands for the construction of satellite campus of University at Donkokrom.

The university would offer degree programmes in environmental studies, climate change, urban development, Water Resources Development, Energy Sustainability, Energy Economics and Agriculture.
It is to have four undergraduate Schools – the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, the School of Sustainable Development, the School of Agriculture and Agriculture Entrepreneurship and the School of the Built Environment.

There will also be one graduate school, comprising three research centres made up of the Centre for Agra Entrepreneurship, the Centre for Agriculture and Bio-Technology and the Centre for Sustainable Resource Development.
In his address, the Chief of Kwahu Bokuruwa, Nana Obeng Opoku Tanor Il, welcomed the delegation and praised the University authorities for progress made so far in their steps and efforts to access the land to expand the infrastructure of the university.
He said that he was impressed that the university would offer education in agricultural in making a meaningful impact and development for the people of Ghana and Donkokrom at large.

The Chiefs in principle accepted their request and promised to lead the delegation on a tour of the allocated of the land and other key facilities in the Donkokrom community and assured to raise the necessary lands to actualize the establishment of the university.
In his submission, the Vice  Chancellor for the University of Environment and Sustainable Development at Somanya, Professsor Eric Nyarko Sampson, thanked the Chief of Kwahu Bokuruwa, Nana Eric Obeng Opoku Tanor Il, and his people for the kind gesture towards the University and pledged his support towards the establishment of the university to aid in the development of the area.

The delegation from the University included Vice  Chancellor of the University of Environment and  Sustainable Development at  Somanya, Prof. Eric Nyarko Sampson, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyapong, Registrar;  Mr. Baffour Awuah Kwabi Director of Finance; Mr. Daniel Ofori Mintah Head of Community Engagement Projects and lnnovation; and Dr. Isaac Abbam, Director of Physical Development and Estate Management.
The Vice Chancellor further stressed that the responsibility of developing, organizating and supervising the University will tasked on recommendations based on Food Security, Climate Change, Agricultural Impact on the Environment and the Engagement of Young Graduates in Job Creation.
On his Part, Kwahu Afram Plains North Districts Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Isaac Ofori Koree, disclosed that, he assumed office with a rumour that, the University of Environment and Sustainable Development Satellite Cumpus in Donkokrom has been removed from Afram Plains North District to Bunsu.
He said his follow up on the matter has finally revealed that, the location of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development Campus within Donkokrom enclave will be established.

The establishment of the university, he noted would help to provide access of education to the citizenry, especially, the indigenes and residents of Donkokrom.
He stressed that he was hopeful that the initiative would bring development to Eastern Region and Donkokrom to facilitate teaching and learning for potential students of the Area.
