Chief In Ablekuma Calls For Peace And Unity -As They Celebrate Their Homowo Festival

The Chief and people of Ablekuma in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, have celebrated their annual Homowo festival with a call on all and sundry to unite as one people to help accelerate socioeconomic development and growth in the area.

The Chief and people of Ablekuma in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, have celebrated their annual Homowo festival with a call on all and sundry to unite as one people to help accelerate socioeconomic development and growth in the area.

The festival amidst the sprinkling of Kpekple, the traditional food of the Gas, firing of muskets and clad in red with some indigenes took their turn to sprinkle the food and poured libation at sacred places and homes peacefully.

The Chief (Mantse) of Ablekuma, Nii Larbi Mensah V installed from Nii Sempe Mensah Family  commended his people for a peaceful Homowo and made a humble appeal to the government to provide the community with development. 
He also took advantage of the occasion to address major challenges which have been a source of worry for the community.

According to the chief, the Ablekuma lacks sanitation and hygiene facilities, Health facility, public schools, mparket and lorry station as well as other social aminities particularly with regard to infrastructural development.
 Nii Larbi Mensah V lamented on how Ragimanuel Concrate Product Company, a (Stone Quarry Company) has over the years mined on their lands without addressing the above challenge of Ablekuma.
In this sense, the chief appealed to the company to provide the community with the needed security to help improve the living standard of the people in Ablekuma. 
The Asafoatse of Ablekuma Iddrisu Larbi popularly known as Asafoatse Otubuo Ɔnsuro-gya, seized the opportunity to express  his sincere appreciation to the people of Ablekuma for making the festival a success and peaceful this year.
He urged the youth to guard against social vices and practice virtues that would shape their lives and help them to become responsible adults.
Asafoatse Otubuo Ɔnsuro-gya, admonished the youths to disengage themselves from any acts of voilence which are of no benefit neither to them nor their families even if they are enticed with money and other material items, stressing; thier lives, family’s and those of others are more valuable than the worth of these monies and material items put together.
On his part, the Ablekuma Mankralo,Nii Okasa ll asserted that this year’s celebration of the homowo festival has been different as compared with those of previous years as peaceful celebration.

He asked the people to use the occasion to forge ahead in unity by burying their differences in order to seek the development of the area.
He therefore, called on government to provide the  for Street lights to avoid criminal activities.
To this end the chief appealed to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step into the Ablekuma Chieftaincy dispute to prevail Peace and Unity for the people of Ablekuma and the country at large.
