The Chairman of Anyinam, Owonta Electoral Area, Mr. Aikins Sarpong has frantically cautioned the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as ‘Wontumi’ and the National Secretary, Mr. John to be watchful in the outcome of their decision to disqualify Lawyer Osei Poku during the vetting process.

According to the Chairman, Hon. Francisca Oteng’s unopposed move was engineered by bribery scandals from constituency executives whom he assessed 75 percent as ‘corrupt’ officials connected to the party due to selfish gains.

“75 percent of the executives in the party is purposely for their personal gains hence the absence of peace and unity,” he said at a press conference.

“I want to tell the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the National secretary Mr. John Boadu that they are not the finest people to run the affairs of the party.

We have seen countless competent party chairmen and secretaries perform better than they do. They should stop the arrogance for their time will soon be over.

A section of the Ahwiaa and Kwabre East Polling Station Executives held a press conference on Thursday Morning at the Ahwiaa Roman Catholic Church and expressed discontent at the Regional executives' decision to let Hon. Francisca Oteng represents the constituency in the 2020 parliamentary elections without being challenged in the primaries.

The attendees clad in party attires with red materials tied to their head spoke to the press and voiced in the incumbent MP’s mandate to go unopposed. Mr. Aikins Sarpong narrated on the disunion that used to exist between constituency executives and Hon. Francisca Oteng until a sudden turn of events.

He addressed the partial decision that executives undertook to deter the aspiring candidate, Lawyer Osei Poku, and its effects on the party in the next foreseeable future if justice is not served within the constituency and regional level.

“During the 2016 elections, many people contested and fortunately, Hon. Francisca Oteng was victorious in the primaries. In 2020, Francisca Oteng and Lawyer Osei Poku were to challenge each other in the primaries for delegates to decide who suit to stand on behalf of the party in the general elections.  During that time, the executives and MP were not in good terms.

“There was later a sudden change of events when the chairmen of the various constituencies were given cars by Chairman “Wontumi” as an incentive to adhere to the dictatorship that was to come. I was a witness to the vehicle at a meeting.

“All of a sudden, those who were not in good terms with the incumbent MP switched positions and begun praising her.

That was when the truth emerged that majority of the executives had been bribed. Later, the word “unopposed” rocketed through which Lawyer Osei Poku, a committed and dedicated member of the party was denied nomination forms at the constituency, Regional and National level.

This was because Kwabre Executives put up words on paper to let Hon. Francisca Oteng represents the constituency for the second term, unopposed, a testament of the enticement they received,” he expressed.

The Chairman of Anyinam, Owonta Electoral Area asserted that he is not bothered at the Regional Party executive’s choice with the constituency chairman to endorse Hon. Francisca Oteng for the second term however, the right means should have been employed rather than the autocratic method to disqualify the aspiring candidate by Chairman Wontumi and Mr. John Boadu.

He rebuked their actions and warned them to be learned from what happened in 2012 when the party suffered from the hostile choices made by certain executives.

“I am not worried if she is given the nod to go uncontested but I seek for peace and justice.

“I want Hon. Francisca Oteng to know that I am not against her. NPP party does not belong to them and they should be very careful with the decisions they are making today,” he added.
