Central region.   Ghanaians cautioned over the rise of Kidney disease among the youth.

Prof. Dr. Alex Anderson has cautioned the public to take preventative steps immediately before it's too late.

Medical officials at the University of Georgia, USA have revealed the worrying phenomenon of kidney disease among young people in the country

According to them, the number of young people contracting kidney disease is rapidly rising.

Speaking to Soireenews during a five-day health screening exercise at Gomoa Dominase initiated by the former member of parliament Hounrable  Kojo Asemani in collaboration with the University of Georgia, USA  a senior doctor at the Georgia University of Sciences Prof. Dr. Alex Anderson has cautioned the public to take preventative steps immediately before it's too late.

He explained that the main thing that makes people get kidney disease in Ghana which e first thing is hypertension. A lot of people have hypertension, but they don’t control hypertension and also excessive intake of meat.


“So, it is important that if you are diagnosed, you also have to do certain things like reducing your salt intake, reducing your weight, regular exercise, and eating healthily, he said.


On the other hand, the former member of parliament for Gomoa East Constituency in the central region Hounrable  Kojo Asemani has noted that the health of the people is his topmost priority hence the health screening exercise.

According to him,  although he's not in power he has his people's health at heart and he shall continue to deliver good health services to his people.

He used the opportunity to state that, the health screening exercise will be held in five communities namely Gomoa Dominase, Buduatta, Buduburam, Nyanyano, and Gomoa Ojobi.


 Meanwhile, some beneficiaries have expressed gratitude and joy to the former member of parliament for the initiative to give them good health.
