Ceasefire Now And Go Back To Classrooms To Teach Our Children-President of NHC, Ogyeahoho Nana Yaw Gyebi II Tells Striking Teachers
President of the National House of Chiefs (NHC), Ogyeahoho Nana Yaw Gyebi II, has finally delved into the controversy sorrounding the current appointment of the new Director General (DG) of Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah and urged the striking teachers' unions to accept and work with Dr. Nkansah for the peace to prevail in education sector of the country.

Consequently, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II who doubles as the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Ahwiaso Traditional Area in the Western North Region called on the striking teachers to ceasefire and rescind their decision to go back to the classrooms to teach the children in order to promote quality education in the country.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Dr Eric Nkansah as acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service after he (the President) has fired the substantive Director General of GES, Professor on Monday October 17, 2022.
However, the President's appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as the new the DG of GES has roused many reactions from the relavant statehiolders in education sector.
The choice of the banker as the news Director General of the GES has mot only fallen of short of people's expectations, but is also violation of teachers professionalism as far as the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023) is concerned.

In this regard, the Teachers in some basic and senior high schools across the country yesterday abandoned the classrooms on day two of an indefinite strike declared by three teacher unions last Friday.
The three unions are the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT-Ghana) over government’s failure to meet their November 4, 2022, deadline to terminate the appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
The unions said that Dr Nkansah was a banker and not a professional teacher and that was contrary to the substantive and procedural rules of the Collective Agreement 2020.

However, this strike action has become a matter of concerns to many prominent personalities including Osenkesie Akankafo Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II who doubles as the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Ahwiaso Traditional Area in the Western North Region.
Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has called on the opposing teacher unions to accept and work with the new GES Director General.
Addressing journalists in his palace, Ogyeahoho pointed out that the direct disadvantage this strike will have on the innocent students if it continues unabated.
"I am beseeching them to allow the man to work and direct him where he falls short," the traditional office holder opined.
