Captain Smart In Tears As Police Reveals Evidence Of Him Bribing An Officer

The host of the Onua TV breakfast show, Blessed Godsbrain well known as Captain Smart has been caught up by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after they claim to have evidence involving his fraudulent activity and impersonation of the Roads and Highways Minister.

Kwesi Amoako Attah, the Roads Minister, had in August 2021, complained to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, praying that the police investigate the broadcaster over alleged corruption.

A woman called Gifty Twumasi accused Captain Smart of scamming her as she claimed that the journalist took an amount of GHC25,000 from her under the ploy of helping her secure land at Achimota Mile 7.

According to the police report, the piece of land was being used as a taxi rank. The taxi drivers involved petitioned with a private developer when he made attempts to develop the land because they already knew it is reserved land.
After they failed to stop the private developer, the taxi drivers turn to Captain Smart for assistance.

Captain Smart used his influence and access to the airwaves to draw the attention of the Minister of Roads and Highways Mr. Kwesi Amoako Attah, who in turn stopped the projects after the broadcaster spoke about it on air.

To show her appreciation, she visited the home of suspect Captain Smart to thank him, together with some taxi drivers, with an amount of GH10,000 for his assistance in halting the said project.

the woman and her team visited Captain Smart for a second time to hand over GHC25,000 to him to be handed over to the roads minister for his role in halting the project, which Captain Smart confirmed yet insisted the amount was Gh10,000.

Captain Smart was said to have visited the roads ministry to see the minister, without success.

However, the CID said there is evidence against Captain Smart for the offenses of defrauding by false charades and accepting or giving bribes to corrupt a public officer.

The police said an investigation is being finalized to prosecute the journalist.
