Calling mixed-race people ‘Half-Caste is RACIST - Juliet Ibrahim
Juliet Ibrahim starts her own side struggle for half-castes like her.
Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim has lambasted those who think that the skin color of a person is what defines his/her race.
The fair-skinned celebrity used herself as a case study, disclosing that most people think she's not African because of how she looks; and those who agree that she has African roots always refer to her as Half-Caste, showing that they don't fully accept her as one of their own.
Juliet Ibrahim, who is also a film producer, has emphatically declared that she is a proud "African Black Woman" and anyone that refers to her that Half-Caste is racist.
She recalled a particular conversation that she had with a person that argued that she could not be a black woman because her skin was not dark enough.
"I had a random conversation the other day with someone and it was appalling when he mentioned passively to me that he doesn’t see me as a Blackwoman.

"He argued, 'you are not “black enough” your skin isn’t dark enough, your hair not kinky enough. And thus my siblings and I do not “count” as Black.” She recounted.
The mother of one, who is of Lebanese, Ghanaian and Liberian descent, has called for the use of the term Half-Caste to be abolished as it is very derogatory.
“Now, this is exactly, what we are fighting to correct amongst ourselves and the world at large. I am a black woman! When I’m abroad amongst the whites, I am classified and recognized as a black woman, however, right amongst us Africans, I’ll be referred to as a Half-Caste."
"This is the most derogatory term to describe a person of mixed race or mixed ethnicity.
We are referred to as mixed-race or multi-racial! Mixed race people are no less black than their dark-skinned counterparts.” she concluded.
