Bullgod’s reported arrest is political, I can’t talk about it - Waakye
Actor, Waakye, shows why Freedom of speech is becoming a thing of the past in Ghana
Waakye has refused to drop a comment on Bullgod's reported arrest.
The veteran actor took the path of caution concerning the ongoing alleged Bullgod/Akufo-Addo saga.
Per his reason, if Bullgod has been arrested like it has been claimed then it would do everyone a world of good to mind their speech when they comment on political matters since they'd just suffer the same fate if they speak out against the powers that be.
He told that since the yet to be confirmed arrest was orchestrated by National Security operatives, no one is safe.
"You see, yes I have heard about Bulldog’s arrest…but it’s bothering around politics so I wouldn’t want to comment on it…"
"things about politics when you are talking and you are not careful it becomes a different thing altogether. Everything in Ghana now is politics so I have to be careful... I wouldn’t comment”. Waakye coyly stated while speaking Hotfmghana.com concerning the arrest.
It has been reported that Artiste manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, known in showbiz circles as Bulldog was arrested on Monday, January 11, 2021, for claiming on UTV's United Showbiz show hosted by Nana Ama McBrown that President Akufo-Addo will not complete his four-year term in office if aggrieved customers of Menzgold do not get back their locked-up funds.
“We’ll get our monies back else Nana Addo will run; he won’t finish his 4 years. I’m telling you. He won’t finish his 4 years,” Bulldog said.
Bullgod eventually explained his comments on the show later, as he explained that his words were not a threat to the president, rather he said them to hammer the need President Akufo-Addo to pay Menzgold customers.
