The National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has professed that Media Houses in Ghana are exhibiting bias towards the NDC due to fear of being shut down by the NPP government if they fail to favour them in their reportages.

The NDC has pinpointed some media houses of conniving with the incumbent government and the Electoral Commission in rigging the 2020 Elections.  They have also questioned why they failed to broadcast disturbing scenes which occurred at Banda, Techiman and a few other places during elections and called on them to exercise objectivity across the country.

She settled on the General Secretary’s “bullet does not discriminate” comments and cautioned the Media to be honest in their coverage otherwise they would be held accountable should any chaos befall the country.

“As our General Secretary said, bullet does not discriminate,” she warned.

“They (Government) are arresting and killing journalist for speaking out. When they came at Ahmed Suale, you were quiet.

“When Anas went under attack and journalist were sent to national security to be tortured you were quiet. Today, they have closed radio stations you are still quiet. Tomorrow they will come after you, speak out. Speak out journalist,” she exclaimed.

The Women’s wing of the biggest opposition party in Ghana embarked on a demonstration on some principal streets in Kumasi to reaffirm its rejection at the Electoral Commission’s declaration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo as president-elect on December 9, 2020.

Dressed in red and Black outfits, the women conveyed that Ghana’s democracy is been tampered hence their protests to express their grief. They spoke that John Dramani Mahama is the winner of the just-ended elections per their figures ascertained and so, the electoral body must rectify its blunders and declare the former president as president-elect.

Dr Hannah Bissiw also disagreed with the Christian and Peace Council for remaining silent on the matter and slated them for failing to rebuke the EC’s action of inventing figures to define the NPP as the winner.

“Freedom of the press is under attack but you guys are quiet, some of us have decided we are not going to church because we realised that our Christian leaders and our pastors are now afraid of a human being who wants to turn himself to a thing-god (Akufo Addo)

"They are same people who told us in church to fear God and not human beings but are dong otherwise,” she added.
