Nigeria footballer and forward for Manchester United football club, Odion Ighalo was quick to express his sentiments on the ongoing mayhem happening in Nigeria.

Uniform men on Tuesday opened fire on peaceful protestors reportedly killing 12 at the Lekki Toll Gate Bridge in Lagos, the BBC reported.

The Shanghai Shenhua loanee after his side’s 2-1 win against Paris Saint Germain in France was quick to express is dissatisfaction at the Nigerian government’s unfair treatment towards its citizens for protesting on matters affecting their wellbeing.

“I’m sad and broken and I don’t know where to start from,” he said at the Parc De Princes.

 “I'm not the kind of guy that talks about politics but I can’t keep quiet anymore for what is going on back home in Nigeria.

“I say to the Nigerian government, you guys are a shame to the world, for killing your own citizens, sending the military to the streets to kill unharmful protestants because they are protesting for their rights. “It’s uncalled for. Today 20 October 2020, you people will be remembered in history as the first government to send down military to the city to start killing their own citizens.

“I am ashamed of this government. We are tired of you guys and we can’t take this anymore. I'm calling on the UK government all the leaders in the world to please see what is going on in Nigeria and help the poor citizens.

“We are calling on the UN to see to the matters. I want to call on my brothers and sisters to remain safe, be indoors and don’t come out because this government are killers and they will keep killing if the world does not talk about this.

“God Bless you all. Remain safe. One Nigeria we move.”

Ighalo was an unused substitute in the Red Devils win in France in their Champions League opener.
