Afriyie Akoto has refuted claims and research which predicts a shortage of food in the coming days.

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has refuted claims and research which predict a shortage of food in the coming days.

According to the sector Minister, the statistics in Bono and Ahafo regions have proven those dire situations otherwise.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto again added that the recent hike in food prices is a result of a high increase in fuel prices and transportation within the Sub- Saharan regions

Addressing Soireenews, the farmers in Bono Regional capital Sunyani which form part of his working visit to five selected regions to access the progress of work in the sector, he assured the the the government has put in place measures to ensure stabilized food prices in markets

He again maintained that production will continue to grow irrespective of current happenings to the cost of production


Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene bemoaned poultry business is collapsing in the region. 

She also appealed to the Agric Minister to the sector Minister to formulate policies to support the growth of the poultry industry in the Bono Region.
