Bono Regional health directorate has confirmed it has received 7,000 covid-19 vaccines with support from African Union and MTN and some frontline health workers took the jab on Thursday.

Speaking with Soiree News, Dr. John Ekow Otoo, Deputy Director in charge of public health, said the directorate has targeted the process with a movement plan to complete the exercise in five days.

He indicated that the vaccines were not enough to cover everyone in the region hence the decision to firstly consider health workers, drivers, journalists, lawyers, and the aged, as well as persons with underlining health conditions.

Dr. Otoo urged the public to take the jab as a protective measure against the pandemic, adding the above-mentioned individuals are estimated at around 9000, thus the directorate’s decision to give the jab on a first-come first-served basis.

He said identity cards would be provided to recipients of the jab.
