According to Madam Justina Banahene, farmers to help protect their patrons has to practice organic farming which is the traditional method of farming to avoid the application of chemicals. She said the agric extension officers are there to help them with the technics and strategies of farming hence they should pay heed to their advice.

Bono Region has celebrated their 38th Regional Farmers Day where the overall best farmer was awarded to Rev. Daniel Owusu.

The Bono Regional Minister, Honourable Justina Owusu Banahene speaking under the theme: Accelerating Agriculture through Value Addition, commended the gallant farmers in the region for their hard work and their contribution to the nation-building.

She said the government is ever prepared to assist farmers, especially in the area of adding value to their farm produce but urged the farmers to unite themselves to form groups for easy accessibility to attract investors to support them in the mechanization of their value addition.

"Additionally, bushfires are necessary evil therefore farmers should collaborate with fire volunteers in the various communities to all always help to prevent any possible bushfires that may arise," she said.
