Bono East: Nkoranza Technical Institute wins Energy Commission's SHS renewable energy challenge competition for the second time

Mrs. Efuah Amoah, the Bono East Regional Director of Education has advised girls to take up challenges in the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in order to be greater in our country as whatever a man can do, a woman can do better.

She gave this advice on Tuesday at Techiman Senior School campus during the 3rd Edition of Energy Commission’s Senior High School Renewable Energy Challenge competition under the theme, “Clean Cooking and Food Processing using Renewable Energy Technologies”.

At the end of the whole contest; Jema SHS was 7th with 61.3%, Yeji SHS had 6th position with 61.7%, Nkoranza SHS became 5th with 65.5%, Techiman SHS the host school placed 4th with 67.8%, Kintampo SHS taking 3rd with 68%, Kwabre SHS from Nkoranza taking 2nd position with 68.8% and the ultimate going to Nkoranza Technical Institute with 71.2%.

Speaking to Journalists after the event, Mrs. Efuah Amoah congratulated all girls who took part in the competition and encouraged Parents to support their children study to higher heights. 

For her part, Madam Bernice Nortey an Officer at the Renewable Energy Division at the Energy Commission of Ghana explained the rationale behind the project.

Meanwhile, Mr. David Mensah Agyampa the Bono East Regional Science, Maths and Technology Coordinator lauded Nkoranza Technical Institute for emerging as winners for the second time and urged them to do their best to qualify at the Zonal level in order to go for the National Competition this year.

Finally, Mr. Acquah Richard the Coordinator for Nkoranza Technical Institute and his students who won the competition expressed their joy.
