The Bono East Health Directorate in combination with the Regional Coordinating Council, have briefed the public on the newly treated mosquito nets.

The program took place at the premises of the Regional Coordination Council and was attended by the representative of the regional Health Directorate led by Dr Fred Adomako, the Regional Minister, Honourable Kwasi Adu Gyan, staff of the RCC and a section of the public.

Addressing the gathering,  Honourable Kwasi Adu Gyan, said governments over the years have spent millions of Ghana Cedis in battling the deadly malaria strain.

According to him, different drugs have been manufactured and used with the aim of stopping malaria but it has all proven futile while these drugs also have their negative side effects.

According to the Regional Minister, the Ministry of Health and the public health services has conducted advanced research to produce specially treated mosquito nets that last longer than normal mosquito nets.

Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan revealed the distribution of these nets will be done in phases, the first phase he described is the registration which has already been completed before distribution.

He urged all to make it a priority to acquire the specially treated mosquito nets because it's the best way to prevent being infected with malaria.

Dr Adomako said they have distributed the nets across the breadth and width of the country so he urged all to visit accredited stores and collect their nets free of charge.

He says the supply of the nets will last until June 1, 2021, and he urges all to rush for their pieces before the deadline.
