The Deputy Director of Public Health in the Bono Region, Dr John Ekow Otoo has disclosed that 647 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the Bono region.

According to him, 641 have recovered with one death whiles five active cases are currently being managed at Friday, January 15, 2020. He attributed the hike in the coronavirus cases to the disregard of safety protocols.

He indicated that the public is not taking the effective preventive precautions hence the country will continue to record more cases until the safety protocols are strictly adhered to.

Dr Otoo warned the public against the shunning of safety directives such as wearing face masks and practising good personal hygiene since it is very clear that the more, they adhere to the safety protocols the quicker the virus is defeated.

"We have neglected the various protocols thinking the virus is gone. People have avoided wearing face masks and that is very unfortunate. we must be responsible for ourselves and loved ones else we put them at risk."

He, however, entreated the observance of safety directives stated by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) indicating that the Regional Public health emergency management committee on Thursday met to gather ideas to contain the spread of the virus in the region.
