Students of the Bolgatanga, Sherigu Community Day Senior High School in the Upper East Region have protested in demand for adequate learning materials.

According to the students since the establishment of the school, no learning materials for students and teacher’s were provided making teaching and learning difficult for the school.

The final year students of the school took to the streets of Sherigu through to the premises of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to protest over the lack of adequate learning materials.

The students’ leader (name withheld), said the situation has already persisted in the school before they were posted to the school in 2018.

He said the lack of infrastructure in the school, is so awful that they have combined all of them in one classroom.

He revealed that the situation, for example, has compelled the school authorities to combine general art and business students, into one classroom and they are forced to drop the electives subjects because they can't separate to learn in different classes due to inadequate infrastructure.

He said their final exams is in August yet they have not been taught any of their elective subjects which form part of their grading in the final exam.

The Bolgatanga Municipality Education Director, Madam Estella Anne received their letter of the petition and noted that the right measures will soon be put in place to ensure the smooth running of the school.
