Boarding Senior High Students to carry  sugar to dining-CHASS warns

What appears to be a blessing and a sigh of relief to particularly needy parents and students has turned out to be an albatross around the necks of heads of schools as senior high school students are expected to carry sugar to the Dining Hall.

Barring any further delay in releasing funds to the CHASS for the feeding and upkeep of students by Friday, July 15, 2022, students would be expected to bring their sugar for dining.
A press release sighted by Soireenews.com purported to have emanated from the Conference on Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools(CHASS) signed by both the Regional Chairman and Regional Secretary is urging students to bring sugar to dining should the schools run out of stocks.
According to the release, if sufficient money and food are not received in the schools by July 15, 2022, school authorities would be compelled to tell parents and guardians to feed their wards.

Dated July 7, 2022, the Upper West CHASS is resolved that all students writing their WASSCE would be compelled to feed themselves or be made to be coming from home to take their examination each day should government fail to pay for their feeding and upkeep.

The release further said the schools could not guarantee the provision of food to students when the stock is gone out.
Given that, the schools have suspended all sporting activities since no student would be allowed to engage in the same on an empty stomach.
Workshops, and all other activities, the release continued have all been put on hold until adequate funds are made available to the schools.
