Boahenkorkor Royal Family Oppose the Newly Installed Queen Mother of Sunyani Traditional Council.

The royal family of Boahenkorkor of Sunyani has stated vehemently opposed the installation of Madam Abena Brayie Donkor, the newly Installed queen-mother of Sunyani Traditional Area by the Paramount Chief, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II.

They made this call at a press conference organized by the family house in Sunyani in the Bono Region.

The royal family of Boahenkorkor of Sunyani has vehemently opposed the installation of the new queen mother of the sunyani traditional area by the Omanhene, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II of Sunyani.

Mr. Joseph Adjabeng Danqua, the spokesperson for Boahenkoko royal family explained that the queen mother installation, madam Abenaa Brayie Donkor was and has arrogated to herself the position of a queen and is acting in ways that are causing a big embarrassment to the royal family and creating a false impression to the general public.

According to them, customarily, kings and queens are chosen from the royal family all over the world and Madam Abenaa Brayie Donkor is not recognized by any of the three sub-families or gates to select a Queen which makes up the Boahenkorkor royal Family thus, Akosua Duaa, Kwantwiwaa and Nyantakyiwaa gates, and since she is not coming out from any of these gates, she cannot be the queen for the royal family.

They again explained that, although there is a pending court case against her "unlawful"  installation as the queen of Sunyani as they alleged the Omanhene unilaterally chose her as his queen, contrary to the customs and culture of the Boahenkorkor royal family.

Nana Yaa Anima, the mother of the late queen mother of Sunyani, explained that, they do not know Madam Abena Brayie anywhere and that she is not a royal from the Boahenkorkor and does not qualify to be Queen in the Traditional Area.
