U.K-Based Ghanaian filmmaker, Blitz Bazawule, bags Grammy Nomination medallion for his work with Beyoncé on “Black is King”

Blitz has revealed that he has gotten his Grammy Nomination Medal. 

The medallion comes as the recognition of his outstanding work as a co-director of Beyonce’s visual album Black Is King.

"Just came in the mail. My first ever Grammy Nomination medalion. Thanks to the @RecordingAcad and wishing Queen Beyoncé and the #BLACKISKING team all the best on March 14." He wrote on his Twitter page.

Black is King is is up for a ‘Best Music Film’ award at the 2021 edition of the Grammy awards. It will be held on March 14.
Blitz Bazawule is a Filmmaker and Musician born in Ghana and based in New York. Blitz's feature directorial debut 'The Burial Of Kojo' premiered on Netflix in 2019 via array.
He co-directed Beyoncé's Black Is King which earned him a Grammy nomination in 2020. Blitz is directing 'The Color Purple Musical' for Warner Bros produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Quincy Jones and Scott Sanders.
Blitz is the founder of Africa Film Society and the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the TED Fellowship and the Vilcek Prize.
