Sonnie Badu has asked Ghanaians to stop attacking Sky News over its recent tag for the country.

It was reported in the early hours of Wednesday, 24th of February, 2021 that Ghana had become the first West African country to receive the delivery of Covax coronavirus vaccines.

600,000 AstraZeneca shots had landed in Accra after being been flown in from the Serum Institute of India as part of the global effort to boost vaccine access.

The article was tagged "Coronavirus: Ghana Becomes First West African Country to Receive Covax Vaccine" by Soireenews but Sky news tagged it with the condescending description that read:

"A flight carrying 600,00 doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine has arrived in Ghana as part of a global effort to immunise the worlds poorest people"

This description has been bashed by most Ghanaians, but Sonnie Badu has defended it.

According to him, he does not blame Sky news for the description; he blames the government led by President Akufo-Addo for the bad publicity the country earned with the tag.

He called on Ghanaians to stop venting their frustration at the media giants and start venting in on the bad government.

“Maybe that is how leaders from Ghana presented the situation, to the international donors to enable them to get the corona vaccine free,”

Ghana received the first consignment of 600,000 doses of Astra Zeneca corona vaccine yesterday at the Kotoka International airport as part of global efforts to immunise citizens in the country.

Health minister-designate Kwaku Agyeman-Manu was present to receive the vaccines.
