As part of measures to create awareness about the negative effects of child abuse and neglect coupled with finding lasting solutions to the long-standing menace, the Bonabear Foundation Ghana(BFG) under the auspices of the Special Monitoring Mission(SMM)-Ghana in collaboration with Dreams Africa Care Foundation(DACF) and the Breasted One Foundation(BOF) has held an awareness creation campaign within the Teshie enclave.

The campaign which came off last Saturday, April 23, 2022, was meant to make a strong statement against the dehumanizing practices of child abuse and child neglect across the country with a particular focus on the Teshie enclave.

Being the fifth in the series, the sensitization walk drew youth, men, and women from Teshie and its environs to achieve the intended purpose.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the sensitization campaign, Volunteers of Dream Africa Care Foundation, Ms. Imogen Blyt,h, and Blanka Bran jointly expressed disappointment at the levels of child abuse and neglect in the country and called for urgent measures to mitigate the anomaly Linnaean society.

The DACF volunteers maintained that an exercise that intended correct an anomaly in society, ought to be done consistently hence their outfit's intention to repeat the campaign at regular times.

Potentially, the Volunteers indicated that they would consider building an orphanage home in Ghana when the need arises in the future.

This, they said would provide orphans a decent home to enable them to develop their God-given abilities.

"Building an orphanage home here in Ghana will aid us to have a closer interaction with the children", they indicated.

On his part, the Founder and Leader of the Bonabear Foundation, Ambassador Bernard Kofi Bonaparte admonished parents to desist from the practice of neglecting their children as the practice kills talents.

"Marriage may breakdown, but the care of the children should not breakdown", he admonished.

With the upkeep of children, the onus lies on the parents to ensure the holistic development of the children.

He revealed that April has been set aside by the United Nations to commemorate and create awareness about the dangers of abuse and neglect of children, therefore, urging parents to desist from the act.

The team of youth walked through the principal streets of Teshie within the Krowor Municipality of the Greater Accra Region displaying placards with inscriptions that include: Your Child Our Heritage, Child Love Great Joy, Child Care is a blessing to you, Care for Child Care for your future, Why involve the child? they are innocent, Neglect your child to your detriment, amongst others to draw the attention of parents, guardians, and foster parents.
