Beverage Association Pleads On Government For Taxes Reduction to Promote Export.
According to Mr. Aggrey in an interview suggested that taxes be reduced by the benchmark in the production of beverages against the employment the industry offered.
The Secretary for the Food and BeMrages Association of Ghana Mr. Samuel Aggrey has appealed to the government to reduce taxes placed on the beverage industry to help promote export.
He said, consumers complained about the price of local beverages as compared to the foreign brands and attributed the difference to the high taxes imposed on beverage production in the country.
According to Mr. Aggrey in an interview suggested that taxes be reduced by the benchmark in the production of beverages against the employment the industry offered.
Comparing Ghana to the foreign brands he said most of the foreign countries are producing at a lower cost because they have been incentives put in place to help them in their production and export.
He appealed to the government to consider same in the country to boost the export of their production.
He also called on the government through Food and Drug Authority (FDA) to come up with a policy to preserve excess fruits to prevent their products from rotten away when they are out of season.
