Barcelona have revived interest in Manchester City’s Eric Garcia, sky sports reports.

The Daily Mail earlier reported that the Catalan club have made a £7.2m bid for the Spaniard who rejected a contract extension at the Etihad last month.

Manchester City wants more than Barcelona’s offer and the Citizen’s failure to cash on the defender means he will leave Etihad as a free agent when his contract finishes.

“Regarding Eric Garcia, so far Barcelona haven’t met Man City’s valuation for the defender,” Sky Sports reporter Ben Ransom said.

“We understand Barcelona will pay around £10million for him as he’s only got less than 12 months left on his deal. He would be able to leave on a free at the end of the season. City feels Garcia is worth more to them than £10m – they are looking for £20m. A compromise is required.”

Pep Guardiola has added Nathan Ake and Ruben Diaz to his defensive department and has options if Eric Garcia is sold to the club.

The arrival of Aymeric Laporte has also given the 19-year old limited chances yet City prefers to keep and gain nothing at the end of his contract if the right offer is not paid.

Garcia has been pictured in Spain meeting up with the national team in Madrid today - so Barcelona would have to account for that if they were able to finalise a move with the player, the Manchester Evening News reported.
