Real Betis centre-back, Emerson Junior is reportedly about to complete his €9 million move to the Nou Camp.

He was signed by the two Spanish clubs from Atletico Mineiro in a joint-venture two years ago.

Despite his desire to play elsewhere, the Brazilian youngster will now be unveiled at Nou Camp as Barca's latest signing.

The Blaugrana had already completed all the necessary arrangements for the arrival of the Argentine forward Sergio Aguero and now a centre-back to help build a solid squad come next season.

Under the contractual agreement penned in 2019, the Brazilian star was sent to Seville for two seasons, where he became a pivotal force of the Betis set-up.

Emerson was stated in the terms of an agreement that, by the end of the two seasons at Seville, the Catalonians would then have the opportunity to sign him for a fixed fee of €9m.

The Brazilian defender’s arrival at Betis could have been made permanent if they were able to pay the sum of €9m but they could not venture to such an investment due to their current financial difficulties.

Some top clubs like PSG, Arsenal, Milan and Napoli were all showing interest in signing the 22-year-old Brazilian International but they all failed because the youngster committed himself to the Blaugrana.

The Catalans have started the transfer window in an aggressive fashion after missing out on the Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles in 2020-21.

Ex-Manchester City duo Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero have already been confirmed as signings, with the latter joining on a free transfer on Monday and greeting his new fans before jumping on a plane to meet up with his Argentine colleagues.
