Brong Ahafo Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has passionately appealed to the government to take a look at basic and second cycle educational institutions in the country by finding lasting solutions to some pertinent infrastructural and other challenges facing them currently.

This was contained in a communiqué issued by the 55th session of the presbytery to climax their Annual General gathering held in Sunyani in the Bono Region.

Rev. Dr William Ofosu Addo, the Immediate past chairperson of B/A Presbytery who addressed the press noted that though the church highly commends the government for ensuring a resilient education system in the midst of Covid-19, coupled with the provision of comprehensive guidelines for the smooth reopening of school by the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service yet there are some pertinent issues which hinder educational growth and development.

These challenges include inadequate classroom accommodation and furniture, poor environmental sanitation conditions and lack of library, Science Labs, Dining Halls, ICT facilities in our Senior High Schools among others. He, therefore, prescribed these solutions.

Rev. Dr Ofosu Addo further pleaded with the government and the Ministry of Education to adopt the church’s Senior High School opened in 2015 at Nsoatre with the support of their Dutch partners.

He lamented that the school has very good facilities but with the introduction of the free SHS in 2017, the school has virtually collapsed.
