Ayensanu MP Provides  100 Bore Holes Water Facilities To Constituents

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensanu Constituency in the Eastern Region, Honorable Teddy Safari Addi, has provided a total of hundred boreholes to some communities in his constituency to help the residents in these beneficiary communities to access good drinking water to improve on the living conditions.

The MP was accompanied by the former Minister of Health, Mr. Alexander Percival Segbefia, and the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the South Africa (SA) branch of the NDC who doubles as the Chairman of Allied Consortiums based in South Africa, Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie to separately commission and hand the first batch of the hundred filtered mechanized boreholes to the constituents.

The construction of these boreholes which were sponsored by the South Africa (SA) branch of the NDC would solve the perennial water shortages experienced in the beneficiary communities during the dry season.

The beneficiary communities are zones three which were Coaltar, Anum, and Asubio zones However the communities which fall within the Coaltar zone, are Bepoase, Coaltar, Krabokese, Amaadi, and Marfokorm.

Additionally, the beneficiary communities under the Asubio zone are Asuboi,
Yakko kwadwofosu, Kyekyewere Achiase,
Ayekokuoso Agbomehia, Bobonte, Gbilimpe, and Dikpa.

The Anum zone has communities which were Sowatey New Town and Kofi Pare which equally benefited from the water facilities.

These initiatives attested to the fact that the residents in these beneficiary communities can now heave a sigh of relief after their sources of water have been changed for the better.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the boreholes to the beneficiary communities on Saturday, July 1, 2022, Mr. Safori Addi thanked the South Africa branch of the NDC for supporting him to construct the first batch of ten boreholes water facilities for his constituents.

According to him, the issues bothering his constituents are always on his heart, saying that this is the constituency "l love with my heart, and we will do everything well to see it progress."

He mentioned that right after the 2020 general elections which made him win the seat to represent the best interest of the people in the Parliament, he embarked on his community "Thank You Tour."

The MP noted that; " I visited all the communities within my constituency and that l took the opportunity to get to know the various problems and challenges and how l can be on help.

"After all, we all sat together on the round table to discuss what we can do immediately to help solve these challenges and problems within the constituency," he noted.

He indicated that; "During our round table discussion, we realized that one of the major challenges that are facing us has to do with the accessibility of good drinking water.

"During the dry seasons, particularly during harmattan seasons, some of the people in some communities within the Ayensanu constituency indeed find it extremely difficult to access good drinking water.

"Following this development, we came out of ideas with the South Africa charter of the NDC to construct 100 boreholes water facilities throughout the constituency. So by the help of the almighty God, they were able to construct the first batch of the facilities which we have successfully commissioning today," the MP narrated.

According to Mr. Safori Addi, the gestures were all based on requests and assessment needs by the communities thereby helping to provide good drinking water for the residents.

According to him, the provision of the boreholes in these beneficiary communities was based on requests since the people in the communities drink from dug-out dams that often dried up during the dry season.

The stressed that “As you have given me the mandate to serve, I will at all times serve you diligently. I have your interest at heart and will thrive to bring more developmental projects to this constituency,” he assured.

He said it was also to ensure that his constituents who have no access to clean and safe water have one to improve their health status and standard of living.

He urged the beneficiary communities to take good care of the boreholes to prolong their lifespan and pledged his commitment to meeting the needs of his constituents to improve their standards of living.

The MP noted that the health implications of people relying on streams and other unwholesome sources for water would be very devastating including affecting their economic undertakings, hence more efforts needed to be made to ensure that every community is provided with potable water.

He assured me that he would continue to intervene to see to it that more communities enjoy good drinking water.

Speaking further, Mr. Safori Addi expressed worry about the increasing rate of poverty and youth unemployment in his constituency and assured the constituents that he will keep working in their interest.

"But it is my dream and prayer that it is not going to be the provision of the good drinking water to the residents in my constituency but there are a lot of as of challenges that l am going to focus on as well. When it comes to the constituency one major challenge we are facing is youth unemployment, it is something difficult to get basic assistance from our parents who are farmers is also a major challenge.

"You make mention of Kojo Fosu school for instance, Yes! It is a major challenge, l can tell you that two schools were but by God's grace, l manage to have little funds to begin the rehabilitating of the school which is Mensahkrom School.

"So as we speak now, l am constructing the Mensahkrom School from scratch. And that after it is done, l move to Kojo Fosu school to construct that very one as well," he explained.

The MP pointed out that it is a difficult task for him sometimes knowing very well that "My NDC government was not in power and also didn't have the DCE on my side and all the major challenges of the constituency most often fall on my shoulder."

The residents in the beneficiary communities
thanked the MP for the gesture and said they would go a long way to improve the living conditions of the people.

According to the residents of these communities, they had to walk long distances to get water from a dam which was posing health threats to them.

They are therefore grateful to them for providing them with boreholes.

“We are immensely thankful to Honorable Teddy Safari Addi and the South Africa charter of that NDC for providing these mechanized boreholes, we have longed for potable water for years and to have him as our hard-working MP, he truly shows his commitment and selfless attitude to construct these water facilities for us, we are grateful," the residents lauded their MP.

For his part, Mr. Segbefia thanked the South Africa branch of the NDC for supporting the MP to provide the merchandise boreholes and water facilities to his constituents.

"We all know of the song composed by Ghanaian musician which sounds that money is blood but today we are learning that water is is life. These initiatives of provision 10 boreholes to start with a total of over 100 boreholes to be constructed through the communities within the Ayensanu Constituency in the Eastern Region.

"But we are starting with ten in this particular constituency and that the MP has worked closely with South Africa charter of the NDC and l am with him, and we have to become a long the way in these initiatives of providing boreholes water facilities to the constituents," the former Minister of Health noted.

He pointed out that the people in these beneficiary communities needed the borehole's water facilities.

He added that "Even we can see the testimony of the people themselves in these communities which have shown clearly that the boreholes are going to assist the residents in the beneficiary communities to solve there was challenged which behaving for years."

He stated that there are reported cases where some of the residents of these communities spent huge money to purchase water for domestic use and that these facilities have been established to stop these challenges.

Mr. Segbefia noted that good drinking water is now on their doorsteps and commended the South Africa branch of the NDC and MP for what they have been able o achieve the provisions of these water facilities to the residents.

He encouraged philanthropists, individual personalities, and organizations to emulate the shining example of the MP and South Africa charter of NDC.

For his part, the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the South Africa branch of the NDC who doubles as the Country representative of Allied Group of Companies based in South Africa, Mr. Benjamin Quashie noted that their financial support to the MP to provide these boreholes water facilities to his constituents as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) they had equally agreed to do.

He pointed out that this CSR is not only to help themselves in South Africa but also "knowing very well that we are from Ghana and that we are doing everything possible to help the deprived communities in Ghana."

Mr. Quashie asserted that these initiatives as "we are aware are a baby of the South Africa group of the NDC and that the Allied Group of Companies partner them and they decided to bring water to the people in these beneficiary communities with the constituency.

He disclosed that they have other humanitarian initiatives that they are doing under the group that "we are supporting in Ghana.

Mr. Quashie noted that the initiatives they had embarked on are "our ways to give back to the society of our way of saying thank to the society."

"It is our ways or moves of helping the deprived communities, brilliant need students, people who are willing to come out businesses and that we continue to these initiatives as our Corporate Social Responsibility towards everyone in the society," he noted.

According to him, "We always serve the people in authority and people who have the means, because we see that it is always important to help.

"Because we know the economic situation of our country currently, and we realized that the government and that of individuals cannot do all to the people at all times, collectively we can all come together and help and ensure that we make Ghana the country we want to be in the future.

"We deprived a lot of resources, we deprived education of children or kids and that the government alone cannot do it, so the truth of the matter is that we would not expect them today because that is what they have voted it to do for the people but in the 21 century we all know that collectively we can help make humanity a best place to resort to," he concluded.
