Awutu Senya  West NPP Youth kick against Joseph Aidoo as DCE

Youth wings of the New Patriotic Party in Awutu Senya West has rejected Mr Joseph Aidoo as District Chief Executive.

Their rejection was confirmed on Monday, October 11, 2024, in a crowded press conference held by the aggrieved youths calling themselves Concerned Youth of Awutu Senya West District.

The youths came out publicly to state their position after the Assembly members and government appointees have voted against him in his confirmation at the election conducted by the officers of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.

The Electoral Area Coordinator for Mfaadwem Pobee-Ayiresu in the Awutu Senya West Municipal Assembly, Amos Hammond disclosed that the assembly members received money from Mr Aidoo but rejected him.

To him, what this shows is that the Assembly members don’t want the nominee, and it would be prudent for the President to renominate a new person.

He said the assembly members didn't want him, and no matter the number of times he is appointed, the assembly members will reject him.

However, the NPP Youth groups have supported the Assembly members for rejecting the presidential nominees, saying that "the Apostles of skirt and blouse cannot lead Awutu Senya West.

Addressing the press conference, the leadership of the groups in the persons of Mr Kwashie Pobi and Mr Nayi Ando stated that they were fully aware that the nomination of Mr Aidoo as the DCE for the area was personally influenced by Mr Eugene Arhin who is closer to the president.

According to the youth, they would not accept the nomination of Mr Aidoo because Mr Arhin has imposed him on them adding that "Mr Arhin abandoned this constituency for the past four years and now what is his interest?

"He(Mr. Arhin) claims he is from Awutu Senya West yet he can't speak Senya or Awutu, how does he then understand his people if what we are hearing is true that he wants to contest as MP.

"Mr Arhin is so wrong to be led by apostles of skirt and blouse chaired by Mr Joseph Aidoo who was rejected outright as a DCE nominee appointed by the president. This should tell the president something.

"Is it not sad as a party to champion a move like what happened in 2020 elections? Let's campaign against Hon George Andah so it will pave the ways for us to lead in the next elections," they stated.

The youth group stressed that; "we are still calling on the president to appoint a neutral person to lead the constituency not "skirt and blouse" preacher nor someone with middle school leavers certificate like Hon Stephen Quaye."

"We have Awutu Senya West at hearts, any individual who wants to cause the district so they lead must be flashed out.

"Leading a district is a serious business and needs someone who is firm, neutral and selfless to lead and not Mr Joseph Aidoo who is an indecisive and a dull person," they noted 

They indicated that is it not surprising that the former DCE, Stephen Quaye who failed to win even one polling station in his own area is still lobbying to be reappointed.

They cautioned that Mr Arhin shouldn't sit at the comfort of his home and impose someone on us to lead as DCE.

"If Mr Joseph Aidoo cannot convince just 35 assembly members and government appointees to vote for him, how can he convince the over 70,000 voters to vote for NPP in the 2024 general elections?

"We advise that Mr Eugene Arhin should concentrate on Mfantseman but not Awutu Senya west because we do not know him," they said.

According to them, they prompted the party leadership a few months ago to listen to the grassroots.

"If they choose the wrong person to lead, the party will suffer an embarrassing defeat in 2024," they asserted.
