The Youth of Atwima Takyiman has cautioned stakeholders to as a matter of urgency fulfil their promise or face their wrath.

Residents of Atwima Takyiman have protested against the government of Ghana over road neglect for the past years.

Protestors disclosed that the contractor, Asabea company limited has moved out of site barely two months and the reasons behind his leave have not been made known.

Clad in Red and Black, the people registering their displeasure that crime rate has increased in the vicinity which has accounted for residents to sleep early for fear of being attacked by robbers.

They stated that people cannot walk alone unless in pairs especially at night and failure to abide by it often leads to attacks. They disclosed that since the road is occupied by potholes, robbers have taken advantage of the vehicular slow down to raid drivers and passerby of their belongings.

A female resident who spoke with Soireenews expressed worry about how dust has contributed to the low patronage of their product. According to her, "we are traders on the roadside but due to the dusty nature of the road, all cars have stopped using this road and are now plying different route which has affected us severely".

The drivers on the road told that"it is difficult as a driver to acquire a vehicle to ply this road, for this reason, car owners have sold their vehicles due to the high cost of maintenance.

"We always vote for NPP hence our cry on them to be of help to us."

Others bitterly cried out that the employment offered by the busy nature of the road has disappeared since the contractor started works and now its abandonment has worsened matters leaving them jobless.

The Assemblyman in the Area told that after the protest that if nothing is heard from the government, the bigger demonstration will hit the ground because of the negligence of the stakeholders. He pointed that the Ashanti Regional Minister, District Chief Executive and Asabea Company are aware of their challenge.

They have called on stakeholders to as a matter of urgency fulfil their promise or face their wrath.
