According to Uganda's major daily, Daily Monitor, 20 of the 60 people on board are expected to attend President Yoweri Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba's birthday party.

On Wednesday morning, a passenger plane skidded off the runway while landing at Uganda's Entebbe airport.

RwandAir confirmed in a statement that the incident occurred "as a result of adverse weather."

It further stated that all passengers and flight crew disembarked safely with no reported injuries.

Small and light aircraft can use an alternate runway, according to the aviation regulator.

"Every attempt is being made to remove the aircraft from the runway strip so that the main runway can resume normal operations," the statement stated.

According to Uganda's major daily, Daily Monitor, 20 of the 60 people on board are expected to attend President Yoweri Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba's birthday party.

It is said that Gen Kainerugaba's 48th birthday celebration would take place on Sunday.

Former Miss Rwanda will be among the visitors at the ceremony, according to Gen Kainerugaba, who is also the head of land forces.
