Hon Osei Bonsu Snr made known that Girl-child education in the Asunafo South District Assembly of the Ahafo Region will be improved to promote the growth of the various communities.

The Asunafo South District Assembly in Ahafo Region has adopted strategies to promote girl-child education in the district.

The Assembly has so far established two Girl Model Junior High Schools at Kukuom and Sankore which every girl when enrolled into these schools, will be free and also benefit from free uniforms, exercise books, sandals, school bags, sanitary pads and among others for the three years period in the school.

Speaking to Soireenews Sulley Dramani at Kukuom, the Acting District Chief Executive for Asunafo South, Hon Osei Bonsu Snr said girl-child education in the district is in the decline hence the move to motivating girls to stay in school.

Meanwhile, the Kontire of Kukuom Traditional Council, Nana Wereko Ampem who bemoaned the increasing number of teenage pregnancies and school dropouts among girls in the district applauded the Assembly and government of Ghana for the initiative.
