The Northern Regional Police patrol team has arrested suspect Baba Tofiq, age 27 years for his alleged attack on civilians in front of Access Bank in Tamale. 

According to the police, their investigation revealed that about 11:00 am on Friday, April 2, 2021, a tricycle rider known as Yakubu Sani age 29 years had parked his motor at their station in front of Access Bank as two other guys with their names withheld blocked his way with tricycles.

The Police narrated that the tricycle rider confronted and asked them to move further but they did not heed. After the incident, the complainant loaded his motor heading towards Fuo, a suburb of Tamale and the two suspects now at large chased and assaulted him and had his two teeth removed.

The security service made known that the two suspects further organised their gang numbering about twenty wielding cutlass ' knives, screwdrivers, scissors and pestle. They then stormed the station and caused damaged to six windscreens of the tricycles belonging to Alhassan  Sumaila, Yakubu Sani, Musa Mohammed, Malik Musa, Karim  Alhassan and Abudul Yakubu and again stabbed Alhassan  Sumaila at his back, and the forehead of Malik Musa and bolted away. 

According to the police, Suspect Baba Tofiq has been charged with the above-mentioned charges and on his way to court to be remanded.  

The injured victims have been issued with medical forms to attend hospital and report to the station. 

The Police assured that efforts are underway to ensure those at large are arrested.  The accused person was put before Tamale District court and the facts and charges were read to him but his plea was not taken by Judge Amadu. 

The suspect was remanded into Police custody to reappear on 15 April 2021 for continuation.
