All the 24 Assembly Members voted YES, two were absent.
Hon Kennedy Kankam has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The MCE received a 100 per cent endorsement by Assembly Members, with all the 24 voting YES despite the absence of 2; they were 15 Elected Members with 7 appointees.
Speaking with some of the Assembly Members, they disclosed that a lot went on behind the scenes for his confirmation but their ultimate aim was to make the public notice that Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly is united despite their political differences.
“When the President appointed the MCE, there was tension in the Municipality to the extent that people raised accusations that he is not a native here.
“After consulting the traditional leaders and all stakeholders in the municipality, we came to an agreement to endorse MCE,” Oheneba Fosu Nti, Central Area, Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly member said.
“We lack a lot of developmental projects in the Asokore Mampong Municipality and per the advice of our leaders, we saw it fit to endorse him.
Another told Soireenews that Hon Kennedy Kankam is a man fit to drive the Municipal forward following their previous developmental struggles therefore per the advice of residents, they had no option than to vote him for transformation.
“All the people advised us to accept him as our MCE to bring progress into the Municipality. We are just messengers and we have done what the people asked us to do. We have faith in him and we are confident that his presence will effect a positive change in the Municipality.”
