'Asantehene does not need to BRACKET himself in the colors of any political party to INSPIRE his supremacy as King' - Nana Oppong Boadu.

Nana Oppong Boadu, The Director of Operations for the Ashanti Youth Association (AYA) says, the ruler of the Asante Empire, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II does not need to bracket himself in the colors of any political party to inspire his supremacy as King.
The words were delivered during a press conference by AYA after the former President John Dramani Mahama`s office released a statement denying the involvement of The Asantehene in his decision to concede defeat in the 2016 general elections.
The Asantehene, in his speech at the United Nations (UN) Conference over the weekend made claims over his intervention, persuading the then loosing candidate to accept defeat in the 2016 general elections; a claim which has been denied by the office of the former President Mahama.
The statement by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has also faced a strong negative reaction from the public mostly the NDC sympathizers.
Nana Oppong Boadu communicated to Ghanaians and the rest of the world that the Asantehene does not need to embrace politics in order to extend his reign in Ghana and beyond. He revealed that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is occupying a position established by God Almighty for the benefits of Asantes.
“Otumfuo do not have to associate himself with either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before he can extend his reign. God conferred the title on him to serve the people of Asante”.
He further announced that the Asante Kingdom has existed for 400 years - the Empire gained Independence in 1935 before collaborative hands assisted Ghana to win independence from the British yet Asantes never boasted about it and have attributed every success purposely for Ghana's development.
“Asante is like the Catalona Region in Spain. We are a self-governing state but for the sake of Ghana’s welfare, the Otumfuo adopted calling out leaders to settle dispute in order to move the country forward. He is not a man of nepotism,” he added.

According to the Association, failure to retract the statement and apologise within 48 hrs will have a very serious consequence for himself and the NDC party in the Asante Kingdom.
“We are giving John Mahama 48 hrs to come and retract that he didn’t instruct Julius Debrah to issue that statement. Other than that we are going to make the Asante Kingdom a very hostile place for himself and his party,” Nana Oppong Boadu stated.
He advised the political parties in the country to quit associating themselves with the Asantehene for 'cheap political fortunes' during elections.
“Asantehene is beyond presidency due to the coverage of the Asante Empire, besides he was never voted in power. Four presidents have administrated the nation since the King of Asante commenced his reign. Unless God calls him to Glory, there is no way he will leave his office. So why are we just affronting his authority,” he explained.
“We revere the Golden stool because it’s our spirit, our soul, our blood and food. That is what makes Asanteman prominent therefore we will never harmonize with anyone who disrepute our treasure,” he ended.
