Arsenal have renewed their interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

The Daily Express reported on Thursday, July 2, 2020, that the Gunners are upping their interest in the Ghanaian international for a summer move ahead of next season.

Partey still has three years to serve on his contract after he extended his stay at Madrid on March 1, 2018, in a deal that runs out in 2023.

Rojiblacos are reported to be going through financial bumps set by the coronavirus pandemic and needs to cash in on a major player to oversee the club's administration.

According to Cadena COPE, a Spanish Radio Show reported that Atletico is willing to cash in on the midfielder and if it means cutting down his price value, which is in the region of £45million.

Arteta is looking to improve his squad to challenge for honors ahead of next season and midfield is one key area he wants to focus, moreover, the signing of a few key players would convince star players like Aubameyang to extend their stay; a statement of intent for the upcoming season.

Arsenal would have to trigger the €50m  release clause of the 27-year old if they want to secure Partey’s services as cautioned by his father, Jacob Partey last month.

“My son's current club, Atletico de Madrid, has a termination clause for him. This means that any club that shows interest in signing him must comply with those demands,” Jacob Partey is quoted as saying by Mundo Depotivo following an appearance on Ghanaian radio.

“Any team that meets Atletico's demand will be able to sign my son, and not specifically Arsenal.”
