Reports reveal that no person was shot but monies and other valuable items were seized by the alleged robbers on the Asamankese road.

Suspected armed robbers on Monday morning, August 9, 2021, robbed several commercial drivers and passengers on the Asamakese road in the West Akim Municipality of the Eastern region of Ghana.

The source revealed that some of the passengers told the media, that the armed men held them, hostage, for over one solid hour and subsequently robbed them of almost all their valuables items.

The passengers lamented, that the armed men physically assaulted those who had no valuables items on them, such as phones, laptops, cash and other valuable belongings.

The victims explained, that they blocked the road and robbed several buses and commercial cars as well as other road users.

A driver who spoke on anonymity disclosed, that he had to hide his phone in his boxer pant in his anal, adding that several others lost their valuables phones and monies, including, his Ghc2,000 which was his daily sales accumulated for 10 days.

The driver opined, that he was traumatised by the incident but happy no one was hurt or shot dead.

"The armed gang men, fired several warning shots to scare us and everybody succumbed to their order.

"The suspected robbers, later on, bolted with the items robbed at the scene," they said.

The Asamankese police command is yet to make an arrest of the suspected robbers.
