The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said its primary election for the Anambra governorship election will hold on June 26.

Prof. Al-Mustapha Medaner, the party’s Director of Organisation, who made this known in a statement, said that the party would start the sales of expression of interest and nomination forms for the election from April 15 to June 8.

According to him, the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents by aspirants would be June 8.

He noted that screening of aspirants would be on June 10, adding that the publication of claims and objections would be on June 12 while screening appeals would be on June 15.

Medaner further explained that the governorship expression of interest form would cost N2.5 million while the nomination form would cost N20 million totalling N22.5 million.

He added that physically challenged aspirants and females would only pay 50 per cent of the prescribed fees for the position.

The statement read: “The Governorship Expression of Interest Form cost N2,500,000 while the Nomination form cost N20,000,000.00, totalling N22,500,000.

“Female Aspirants and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay 50% of the prescribed fees for the position.''

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in January scheduled the Anambra Governorship poll for November 6, two months before the commission reiterated its stance on 74 deregistered parties.
It said it would continue to recognise and allow only APC alongside 17 registered parties to nominate and contest elections in the country.

In line with this and other provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and INEC, the APC has slated its primary election for Saturday 26th June 2021 while the screening of the aspirants will take place 15 days before the primary.
