Andrea Bocelli joins the growing list of musicians who have tested positive for coronavirus.

The Italian singer confirmed the news on Facebook on Tuesday (May 26), revealing that he and his family "were fortunate enough to have a swift and full recovery by the end of March."

As to why he didn't share his condition until now, Bocelli wrote, "Out of respect for those for whom contracting the virus has had more serious consequences, I decided it would be best not to share the news. I certainly didn’t want to unnecessarily alarm my fans and also wished to protect my family’s privacy."

The star went on to note that he was asked to donate blood to help find a cure for the disease, and 'my response was an immediate 'yes.' A modest — but fundamental — gesture, through which I am playing my small part."

He first revealed last week in an interview with Wall Street Journal.“I was able to be with my entire family and we all got infected. We had a fever, then we were cold, and then we got a little bit of a cough,” he said

Andrea Angel Bocelli is an Italian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma at 5 months old, and became completely blind at age 12, following a football accident.

On 12 April 2020, Easter Sunday, Bocelli performed "Music For Hope - Live From Duomo di Milano" from an empty Milan Cathedral, accompanied by cathedral organist Emanuele Vianelli. The performance was streamed live over YouTube, where it continues to be available for replay. About 5 million people tuned in for the livestream performance and, by 13 April 2020, over 32 million views were logged on the archived video.
