Briefing the press, the Ashanti I Regional NPP Nasara Coordinator, Alhaji Salim Bamba spoke that they (drivers) are committed to campaigning for the incumbent government because every promise Nana Addo made to them in 2016 has been fulfilled much and improved their profession in every part of the country.

According to him, the former president, John Dramani Mahama made policies which stalked the driving business and made the trade cheerless. He informed that demonstrations have been missing in the transport sector because the current government have made implementations which favours motorists and has transformed their way of life.

“Prior to the 2016 elections, the alliance of drivers saw that the former government under the NDC executed policies that were in contradiction to that f motorists and it affected their work massively,” he said.

“Out of that, they deemed it necessary to call for change in 2016 and declared their support to the NPP government and in so doing, Nana Addo did not disappoint them. His policies have been good and they have benefitted a lot from his government. It’s difficult to hear drivers going on strike due to fuel increment and others, this is by virtue of good leadership and economic management,” he added.

Alhaji Bamba asserted that one key area which has galvanized the full support of the national executives is the digital means of acquiring a driving license without stress. He recalled that gone were the days where motorists were harassed by the Police for a license but everything has been overturned due to the president’s creativity on the sector which calls for another term. The planting for food and jobs and the One District one factory he added, have revived the career a lot.

“The One district one factory after production charter cars to market and it has raised their support to the NPP government hence their campaign inauguration for the New Patriotic Party. They are not doing this because of their affiliation with the party. No. they are campaigning because of the government’s good works towards them and Ghana as a whole.”
